Luke 9:23-24
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.Discipleship demands a drastic shift in one’s “daily” life to take on the mission of Jesus, even to the point of death. After Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension, disciples are called to continue his mission by representing him here on earth. Only those who, like Jesus, are willing to give up their own earthly desires and ambitions can obtain the spiritual blessings that Jesus’ resurrection brings.
